EEEEEKKKKK why do I get a fluro white face when I have a photo at night with a flash???????....it just looks freaky!!!!.....Quite often its because most of the foundations we use today have SPF in them and can contain titanium dioxide ( DONT BE ALARMED!!!! its a sunscreen!!!!)....There are also lots of makeups that have light reflective properties to make us look younger darling and more smooth........The ONLY problem with these FAB inventions is that when a flash bulb goes off in front of them, bada-bing bada-boom it bounces off your face like little mirrors, creating the ghost face!!!!!!!!!!! Not a good look........
One way to avoid this is to hunt around for a foundation that contains no sunscreen....kinda hard to do these days.....Giorgio Armani has a beautiful one called Luminous Silk ( available at DJ's and Myer)....its not the cheapest one on the market , but a little goes a long way....( it is under $100.....just).....and like I have said previously Showface at the rocks (www.showface.com.au/ ) have lots of foundations that are used for photoshoots and tv so they have no reflective bits in them.....
If you do use these makeups , be sure to only wear them at night , or if you are going to be inside...UNLESS you put a sunscreen underneath them!!!!! WRINKLES otherwise my beauties!!!!!! that means more trips to Dr Naomi.....( even though we do love to see her!!!!!! ) , and also you may risk the dreaded skin cancer.....shudder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another HOT TIP!!!!!!!!!!!! to look better when using a flash in photos.......is to place a tissue over the flash.....it still lets the light through, it just softens it....IT WORKS.....its pretty pretty.(experiment with one ply and two ply).....and number 2 HOT TIP!!!!!......is to place a business card/ credit card, or any other bit of paper directly under the flash bulb on an angle and bounce the flash light up to the ceiling...it still creates the flash and the light, but doesn't flood your face.......its like you have lost 10 years without even trying!!!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYAY............Give it a go and experiment..( that's the joy of digital )....it helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be good and talk soon...love Ren xoxoxoxoxox
OK, Ren, awesome post! Trying out the tissue idea seems good in theory, but I hate having photos taken, so I can't imagine doing it for fun and experimentation, although I probably should.
ReplyDeleteRen, I'd love you to write a post on makeup to hide redness, capillaries etc.
Also I know it's completely off topic (and maybe I'm asking because I'm on a diet), but I'd love you to post your favourite quick and healthy recipes once in a while. We know you can cook. XX

ReplyDeleteHey there.....see above the link for really great primers for redness, veins etc.........just be careful not to go tooooooo crazy with them.....you dont want to look to 'neutral' with your face.....the green base is best for redness and the lavender one is also good......so play around and see which one suits the most........or you could get zapping with that laser to get rid of capillaries!!!!! ouch!!!!!....Love the ideas about some recipes....I will get on to those!!!!!! love ya
